Hello Friends! Welcome to day two of Blogmas 2025! I'm so glad you are here!
Real or Artificial?
That is the question. Do you prefer a real tree or do you go with an artificial tree? I prefer the artificial tree because of many factors and the main one being allergies! Some of y'all know what I'm talking about!
I would love to be able to experience going out and finding the "perfect" tree out in the woods! I have a picture in my mind of how that experience would be. Granted, that picture probably comes from a Hallmark movie but it's my picture so...
In my picture, I see all manner of woodland creatures watching us and frolicking around our feet. My grandchildren would be in awe of the majesty of the forest! We would enjoy the adventure and just when we think we weren't going to find "THE TREE", the forest path would open up and lead us to the most perfectly beautiful tree that God made just for us! Angels would sing in harmony and there would be a glow around the tree that would amaze us...
Rewind!!!
Chances are, going out to find that tree probably would not turn out like a Hallmark movie. I can imagine that I would find every hole or uneven piece of ground and take full advantage of them by stumbling, twisting an ankle or falling face first into a tree! I'm special that way, you know! We would walk up steep hills, slid down slippery slopes, and wade through mud deep enough to bury Santa's sleigh!
Somebody would have to pee, another would be starving to the point of "I'm going to pass out!", PawPaw would be throwing out some words that would make the bad elf blush, I would be crying because I twisted an ankle and am having to crawl back to the truck, and all of us would be cranky, angry, and just done! All the while, I would be sneezing, coughing, and have a headache because of those blasted allergies! Then suddenly, the path we had been walking on - all dang day- would end up right back where we started and some handsome game warden would have kindly left a parking ticket on our truck with a sweet note that read, "Just go to Walmart".
LoL...a bit of humor but I suspect I'm not far off!
Seriously, though, I do prefer the artificial tree because it is easier to set up, the branches are made to hold heavier ornaments, and of course mine is pre-lit so I don't have to struggle with putting lights on and then spending hours trying to unwind them when Christmas is over. I can use my tree for many years to come and while they say that an artificial tree last for years in the landfills, there are ways to use or recycle when you are done with it...many years down the road. I also like that I don't have to make sure it has water every day. I'm old, y'all! I don't crawl around under the tree like I used to! It's more like I laying on my belly and scooching under there and out again. Oh and then I would have to figure out how to get up off the floor!

My daughter and I trying to figure out how to get the Angel to stay on the tree...stubborn thing she was! The angel, not my daughter, although she is stubborn too. And I don't know who was taking the pictures or at what angle but I am not 4ft tall and she is not 7ft! *enter eye roll*
So which do you refer? The real thing or an artificial tree?
Grace & Peace, Pam |
