Happy Labor Day!

Because I am a truckdriver's daughter, wife, sister, and mother-in-law, this picture has a lot of emotional stuff for me.  While the words below are for all kinds of hard workers, truckdrivers are special.  They sure aren't working just a 40 hour week, that's for sure!  So I just want to encourage you to thank every person who works hard, but want to especially ask that you thank a trucker...because without truckers, not many would be blessed with jobs at all.

There are people in this country
Who work hard every day
Not for fame or fortune do they strive
But the fruits of their labor
Are worth more than their pay
And it's time a few of them were recognized.

Hello, Detroit auto workers,
Let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin',
Just to send it on down the line
Hello, Pittsburgh steel mill workers,
Let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin',
Just to send it on down the line.

This is for the one who swings the hammer,
Driving home the nail
For the one behind the counter,
Ringing up the sale
For the one who fights the fires,
The one who brings the mail
For everyone who works behind the scenes.

You can see them every morning
In the factories and the fields
In the city streets and the quiet country towns
Working together like spokes inside a wheel
They keep this country turning around.

Hello, Kansas wheat field farmer,
Let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin',
Just to send it on down the line
Hello, West Virginia coal miner,
Let me thank you for your time
You work a forty hour week for a livin',
Just to send it on down the line.

This is for the one who drives the big rig,
Up and down the road
For the one out in the warehouse,
Bringing in the load
For the waitress, the mechanic,
The policeman on patrol
For everyone who works behind the scenes.

With a spirit you can't replace with no machine
Hello America, let me thank you for your time...

This & That

Hello Lovelies!

I hope everyone is staying cool in this unrelenting heat...I also hope if you aren't in a Southern state and have the pleasure of not dealing with triple digits, PLUS HUMIDITY, that you know how blessed you are!  Ugh!  I has been so hot these past weeks.  I know it is summer but Y'ALL!  And this is why I don't care for summer...!

There really hasn't been much going on around here.  It's just a simple life we live.  We have turned off all news, deactivated facebook, and just take it one day at a time... It's very nice not being bombarded with all the garbage that is going on in this world.  You know, there really is no reason to get stressed out with it all.  The powers that be are going to do what they want.  Not a thing we can do about it so we might as well enjoy this life that God has so graciously blessed us with.  The Bible says worrying will not add one day to our life and it certainly won't fix anything so why do it?  Especially over things we have no control over.  Of course, we will worry about some things...we are human, after all, aren't we?  But I feel it is a sin to worry over how things are going.  God knows!  He has the master plan!

Ok, well that wasn't where this post was headed when I sat down here but I suppose God had other ideas.  Fine with me, Lord!  Use me!

So...a couple of weeks ago, the granddaughter and I had a fun day.  We don't get those very often anymore so I cherish them.  We went to some antique malls, had lunch and spent some much needed time in laughter and conversation.  I love my fifteen year old granddaughter!  She gets me!

See!!!???  She gets me because she is just as Kooky as I am!

She always has fun and makes me laugh like nobody else!

I have started working on Christmas presents.  I know it is only August but I don't like waiting until the last minute to make and purchase the gifts.  I want to sit back and enjoy the holidays not be stressed and running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everything done.  This year, all the BIG KIDS(adult kids) are getting gifts that are handmade.  I hate spending money on gifts that mean so little and with the cost of everything, now, I just am not going to!  Not gonna do it!

I have two afghans started and will start a third pretty soon.  The Grandblessings Christmas quilts will be started very soon, as well.  I am also going to do some baked goods and other treats.  Useful things.  I would like for my kids to do something like that, for us, but they like to take the easy road and buy stuff we don't need...or want, for that matter.  It's not that we don't appreciate the gifts, it's just that we have everything we want and need...A LOT OF EVERYTHING WE WANT AND NEED!  Now don't get me wrong, I love receiving gifts but at this point in life, I am more about memories, time spent together, and simplifying my home and life.  Well, there I go again...getting sidetracked!  Sorry!

I have one question for y'all...
What in the medieval bug hell is this?

Grace & Peace
Pam
