The "Divine Ms. M" speaks and currently at home...

The Divine Ms. M says, "It is hotter than a chili pepper at a 4th of July picnic in South Texas!".  If you've never eaten a chili pepper and have never been to South Texas in July...Y'all, that's hot!

And she would be correct!  We went from the frozen tundra to monsoon season and now we've dived head first onto the face of the sun!  Thank the good Lord for the Oklahoma wind!

Not much has been happening around here, really.  We are just about to wrap up the remodel of the Laundry/Pantry and the Mudroom!!!  I am certainly ready for that!  We will still have to get flooring installed but that will have to wait until we get some of the, too many, expenses paid down.  We never anticipate the ridiculous rising costs of things when we start a project.  I can tell you, prices have risen a lot since we started this project almost two years ago!  UGH!

I am getting ready to do a deep clean of my house.  That hasn't been done since we decided to tear everything up!  Oh, I've hit the high spots and made it "look" clean but it isn't my kind of clean!  My sister, and great niece, are coming for a visit after July 4th and there ain't no way I'm letting that woman come in this house the way it is now!  HaHa!  She is worse than I am about a clean house...yes, that is possible!  So I figured, it's the perfect time to dive in!  Oh, I should say, that she really wouldn't judge my dirty house but she sure would start cleaning!  Hmmm...maybe I should leave it and save myself a tired, sore body!  Naw...she will be on vacation...but...!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer so far!  And please, leave a comment so I know you stopped in!

Hello, Lovelies!

And yet...it rains.  I am weather weary.  Doubt I am the only one around these parts.  We've had over two feet of rain since April 1st!  That is a good twelve inches more than our normal amount.  Good thing is the lakes are all full for the first time in years.  Of course, all the campgrounds are closed - mostly from government cut backs - so you really can't enjoy the lakes unless you have a boat and then that is dangerous with all the debris that is floating in the water.  I really shouldn't complain, should I?  After all, we still have a lot of hot weather coming in the next few months but honestly, I feel like I've been cheated out of a good portion of my Spring.  Before I know it, the days will begin to get shorter and then of course winter.  I don't know...I just feel kind of let down.  Even with that, I am very grateful for the rain and cooler than normal temperatures because usually by this time we are in the mid-90's working towards triple digits.  There are blessings even in the storms, aren't there?

Ms. Kay says hello and wants to know if you have treats in your apron pocket like Mama does.  This lady is our pest control.  She is also a spaz and has a good time no matter what is going on around her.  Lord, is she a spaz!  She is getting better but she has so much energy and strength.  It is a workout to take her for a walk, or so my husband says.  I always have treats in my pocket, when I take her, and she knows if she is crazy she won't get a treat.  She is a happy girl but she can certainly be a turd, as well.

As you can tell, I really don't have a lot to post about.  It's just been a very quiet time around here and that's ok.  I really don't know how to handle it when it is chaotic and "noisy".  I tend to "shelter in place" when life gets to be too much but I've not had to do that lately.  I hope you are also having a bit of a quiet season.

Grace & Peace,

Pam

Tuesday 4 - A Cozy Home

A Cozy Home

Hi Friends!   It's another Toni Taddeo Tuesday 4.. even though I keep hitting the 5 when typing.

Here it is a chilly Sunday evening and summer seems far off but I hope your home is warm and cozy... Speaking of cozy, here are some questions about a cozy home.

1. What’s one feature in your home that makes it feel especially cozy or comfortable for you?
Our home is small and that in itself makes it feel cozy. Also, we don't have an open floor plan like most homes these days. Every room is small and cozy. I don't know how you would make an open floor plan feel cozy.

2.  How do you like to personalize your living space to reflect your style or personality?
Our living space definitely reflects my personality!  It's all over the place.  Mostly boho/granny chic/eclectic flea market/fairytale stuff.  I am a complex artistic daydreaming type person and I decorate, in the same manner, with what I like.  I don't care if it matches or if there is a specific style.

3.  Are there any home maintenance tasks you find particularly important for keeping your space comfortable year-round?
Keeping everything tidy.  Everything in it's place.  I can't deal with a messy kitchen or bedroom although right now mine are very messy because we are still in the remodeling stage of a couple of rooms.  Almost done!

4.  What’s your go-to way to unwind or create a relaxing atmosphere at home after a long day?
Not just after a long day.  I always have a nice candle burning or wax melts on.  Usually-not always-there is either worship music or instrumental music playing softly.  Fairy lights when I don't want a candle burning.  Lamps and low wattage bulbs.  Only bright lights are in the kitchen and over my bathroom sink.  Sheer curtains to difuse the sunlight because it gets hot here in Oklahoma and sometimes I will pull the heavier curtains closed.  Summers are brutal without those curtains.  Also, I drink copious amounts of tea and coffee.  A cup of hot tea and a good book - cozy.
