Queen Anne Climbing Roses - I really need to get a trellis put up so they can actually climb.

My goodness, friends, I just don't know what has happened to April. I am just flabbergasted that we are almost in May! I guess we have just been busy with life. I do know last week was chaotic and I am glad it is behind us. We had storms and flooding came with them. My daughter and son live two hours away and weren't excited about driving up, for Easter, during all that so we decided to put it off a week. Then the weather changed course and we got a break...just enough that they could drive in but the grands and great-grands egg hunting wasn't looking promising. During all this, we had moved everything out of the mudroom into the kitchen(still remodeling)...freezer, storage cabinet, and quilt box. Large pieces! My kitchen looked like WW3 had happened. Hubs and I were using a 1/4 of the table to have meal on because everything was stacked around it and that's all that we were able to get to. So...with the decision made that everyone was going to come in for Easter, we quickly got the mudroom painted but left the trim work and others stuff until later. The day before Easter, we put everything back in the mudroom and I began the cleaning process of the rest of the house...well, the rooms I knew people would be in. My poor house hasn't been properly cleaned in a long time due to all this remodeling business. Unfortunately, it still hasn't. I basically hit the high spots and called it good enough. Food was to be potluck so I got Sam's rotisserie chicken and Sam's potato salad, made deviled eggs and iced tea. Good enough. It was also my granddaughter's birthday weekend so we quickly put up some decorations, I made her favorite coconut cake and called that good enough, as well! LoL. Seems to be a theme there doesn't it. Anyhow, we had a wonderful church service, good food and fellowship, and birthday cake. The grands and great-grands even got to hunt eggs, although they did end up wet and muddy! We have a small area that is a slightly higher elevation than the rest of the yard so it worked out fine when I broke them up into two groups. They are all boys, except for my granddaughter, and how could they have all that standing water right there and not get into it? Probably didn't help that the prize eggs were ducks. LoL. Naturally, they had to see if they would float...oh, and just how far up on their legs the water came to. It was all good but I tell you what...I have got to lighten up when it comes to having fun. I am so OCD that the mere thought of all that mud being tracked in made me crazy and if it hadn't been for my son-in-love and husband, those kids probably wouldn't have gotten to hunt eggs at all...much less play in the water. I don't know when that happened. I used to be the one out there with them playing in the mud and water...or telling them it was alright to do it, when someone had already said not to. Y'all, tell me there is hope for me. Has anyone else noticed being like that now that you are older? Needless to say...I have become an old stick in the mud. I mean, not literally because well...mud...but you know what I mean.
So anyhow, the chaos turned into a nice time and I glad we went ahead and did it...and I am glad it's over! That was too, too much!
Back to what happened to April. Anyone, else feel like it's been just a passing thought?
Oh! BTW...there were twelve people in my itty bitty house! That's a lot but nothing like the seventeen that were crammed in here Christmas before last. I think we need a separate building to gather in!
Grace & Peace,
Pam
Yes, time is flying by. It is always nice to see you post. Have a beautiful weekend, smiles.
ReplyDeleteHey Pam. Good gracious, my nerves would have been shot with all that going on. :) Sounds like everything turned out good though. I get all crazy trying to clean out the sewing room when Andee and Todd come home. Thank you for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteApril is Gone!!! What happened? lol
ReplyDeleteCleaning isn't my forte but 'ya gotta get it done. I'm tempted to hire it out!
