New feathered family, special visitor, and I think I can see the light!

Since we only have the one hen, after selling all the others, I decided we needed to get more.  So last week, I took my granddaughter to pick out a few chicks.  She has gotten big enough to actually help me out, in the Itsy Bitsy Barnyard and I knew she would love the babies!

She picked out four.  There are two black chicks behind the speckled one, in this pic.  They may be Bantam chicks but I can't remember what she got.  The little yellow baby is named Popcorn..."because she is yellow, Granny!".  And that pretty little speckled chick is Eugene and may or may not be a rooster.  It has the attitude of a rooster!  Notice the flower print stuffed pig?  "Because they need a cuddle buddy, Granny!", said she who is a funny girl!  Well...they do seem to love it so I guess she was right!

Tomorrow, there will be another tub with a heat lamp because now I've decided I need some guineas.  Have you ever eaten guinea eggs?  I haven't but some people will pay a good price for a dozen guinea eggs!  Besides, we need a snake patrol!  My barn cats do a good job but they are getting older and...lazy!

I had the sweetest visitor, yesterday!  My sweet little Cowboy!  Isn't he just precious!!!???  He slept the whole four hours he was here.  I put him in the middle of my bed, covered him up, and he slept good!  I don't know what it is about my bed but his big sister loves it and apparently he does too!  Of course, I always liked my Granny's bed so I guess there is just nothing like a Grandma's bed!

I want y'all to know, I think I see the light at the end of the kitchen cabinet tunnel!  I only have two more doors, four more shelves, and one drawer, before they are all done!  Here's a little preview.

Isn't that white just beautiful and clean!!!???  I am loving it!  No more dark kitchen!  And did I say how clean it looks???  Yes!!!  For me there is just no other color for kitchen and bathrooms.  I like for those two rooms to be clean and show it!

This is the small cabinet above the stove.  I opted to leave the doors off and I am glad I did.  That is my favorite thing about this cabinet re-do!  I can't wait until everything is put back in the cabinets, the walls are painted, and the lightbox for over the stove is put in!

Beautiful, tragedy, and it just never ends...

Oh my goodness, where does the time go?  I can't believe my grandson is a week and two days old!  Why, he will be starting school before I know it!  I think I said the same thing when my granddaughter was a week old and just look!  She is almost six years old!  Good gravy!

So...we have had a rather strange winter.  A few cold days...a couple of really cold days...and now sunshine and temps in the 80's and it is the middle of February!  Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but I kind of feel cheated out of bean, chili, and soup weather!  I haven't made the first pot of chili and it doesn't look like I will!  With this nice weather, in Oklahoma, we also get high winds...which lead to some not so nice things!

I looked out the kitchen window on Thursday morning and immediately thought, "That can't be good".  The 50 mph winds picked up the granddaughter's trampoline and put it in the stand of trees, right behind the goat pen.  I managed to get it out of the trees and laid on the ground.

Nope...not good at all!  My Mister managed to get it straightened so she can still use it but the safety net is history.  I imagine we will be buying a whole new trampoline because the net and poles cost almost as much as the entire setup!

With the beautiful weather, high winds, and dormant vegetation, come wildfires...

See that hill?  Now see that black smoke???  That is only a couple of miles from our house and has been burning for three days, so far.  The day it started, there were wildfires all around us.  Fortunately, the wind was blowing the smoke away from us but I still didn't dare go outside!  I would have ended up with  my allergies going crazy and then turning into a sinus infection!

There have been some beautiful sightings as well.  I snapped this sun dog, last evening!  There were actually two but you can barely see the second one.  It is in between the street light and stop light.  Very pretty and almost eerie but also very special to see one!

This evening, shortly before dark, my Mister and I decided to go fishing for a little while.  See the fishing pole?  That is mine.  It is very pink and even has pink fishing line!  HeHeHe...I might be just a wee bit of a girly girl...BUT NOT TOO MUCH!

Such a gorgeous sunset!  I like to believe God makes those just for me!

On the other side of the dock, the moon was rising.  It too must have been a gift for the Lord!  He loves me!

Oh!  Just wanted to let y'all know...

The "big fat eat-in kitchen" has been renamed!  It is now known as "the never-ending, pain-in-the-neck, remodel"!  It just never ends!!!

Blessed and highly favored...

Yes, that is exactly how I feel!  God has blessed me more than I deserve!  I am now the proud grandma of a sweet and chubby baby boy!

My daughter had the baby yesterday!  He is a big ole boy, too!  He weighed 9lbs 4oz and is 20" long.  Just precious!

My sweet little granddaughter is over the moon!  Doesn't that face say it all!!!???

Papaw still isn't too sure about holding babies but I know, in a few years, these two will be inseparable just like him and the granddaughter!  He is an amazing Papaw!

I am quite smitten with this little man and of course, my granddaughter is my very heartbeat!

Yep,  I am blessed and highly favored by the Lord!

Thank you, Father, for it is all good and You get all the glory!
